11 JULY
6:32am Av Atlântica, Copacabana
I was at Nathan and Maureen’s house doing some recordings for a project. I was walking around the living room trying to find the best plug to connect the computer to and then started taking notes on my notebook by the window and next to the recorder. I could listen to toucans, parrots, pigeons, seagulls and other birds I couldn’t identify. The city was waking up and so was I.
Nathan and Maureen met in Holland where they were both studying. They got married on a tram in New Orleans. Behind me there’s a painting a friend painted to document the moment.
This photo was taken at the end of the day. Maureen was about to arrive from work. There were protests in Cinelândia from labour unions. The conflicts were the worst so far and Nathan was concerned. Around 8pm Maureen arrived home safe.
